Some pregnant women experience a popped bellybutton, which occurs when pregnancy pushes a women’s inward bellybutton outward. A popped bellybutton may increase sensitivity and pain.
Where in your stomach do you feel the baby?
Walk your fingers up the side of her abdomen (Figure 10.1) until you feel the top of her abdomen under the skin. It will feel like a hard ball. You can feel the top by curving your fingers gently into the abdomen.
The unborn child reacts strongly to his mother’s movements as well. Most moms notice that when they touch their belly, the baby kicks back or responds in some way, says Als. “If it’s a firm touch, they may move away and stick out their arm,” as if to ward you off.
