Rule #1 of Restaurant Week – don’t talk about Restaurant Week
Just kidding. Spread the word! Culinaria’s Winter edition of Restaurant Week kicks off next week on the 18th and foodies city-wide are gearing up for a week of not cooking, giving up those new years diet resolutions and dining at some of the city’s best. All to support Culinaria, of course!
Being a restaurant week afficiando myself, I have developed rules to get me through the week. This is serious business folks. I do not take eating lightly. So here and now, I give you, the rules of Restaurant Week, plus (of course) the perfect outfit to see you through all your eating!
Rule #1 – nothing fitted!
When it comes to clothes, I mean. These 3-course lunch and dinners will fill you up and you don’t want to be uncomfortable and restricted. Take it from a girl who doesn’t know when to quit when it comes to eating and has sat uncomfortably in an uncomfortable outfit, too many time to count. A shift dress is the perfect answer and can definitely take you from day to night or from one of the more casual restaurants to one of the more upscale (and it’s only $20!!! Shop it below).
Rule #2 – check menu’s and make a plan of attack
True, some restaurant and chefs don’t post their menu’s in advance, they like to use what seasonal ingredients they can get their hands on during that week, but there are plenty of menu’s already posted for you to browse through and see what you can’t miss.
Rule #3 – try something/somewhere new
Sure your old favorites are favorites for a reason, but Restaurant Week is all about exploring the (vast) expanse of the San Antonio culinary scene. There are quite a few restaurants on the list that I’ve never had the pleasure of dining at before and this is the perfect time, with the perfect prices, to try!
Rule #4 – always take your leftovers to go
That is, if you have any.
Rule #5 – grab all your friends and eat out at least once a day, everyday
Not only is restaurant week the perfect excuse to skip the cooking or the brown-paperbag lunch, you know it’s all for a great cause; supporting Culinaria (my favorite local nonprofit) in all their endeavors like the (big, ginormous, amazing, spectacular) Urban Farm, scholarships for local kids and more.
You’ll definitely see me making the rounds. Which restaurants will you be stopping in next week?
